USA's Sally Barkow, Carrie Howe, and Deb Capozzi finished
7th overall in the competitive Yngling fleet.

Qingdao, China (August 17) - Zach Railey (Clearwater, FL) has won the silver medal in the Finn class at the 2008 Olympic Games by finishing in fifth place in today's medal race. In addition
to the final race for the Finn class, the 49er and Yngling fleets held their last races as well. In the 49er, Tim Wadlow (Beverly, MA) and Chris Rast (San Diego, Calif.) were unable to finish their final race due to an
equipment breakdown. The USA is out of medal contention in that class, but there is a protest pending which affects the medal positions, so no medal ceremony was held this evening pending final results. In the Yngling class,
Sally Barkow (Nashotah, WI), Carrie Howe (Grosse Pointe, MI) and Debbie Capozzi (Bayport, NY) finished in tenth place in the double-points medal race, and finished seventh overall.
Railey sailed a consistent regatta, never falling below second place since racing started eight day ago. After today's race, he said, "I came here to stand on the podium. My goal was to get a medal. Now it's a big
relief and I'm proud to win a medal for the United States. It feels amazing. All of that hard work was worth that moment [of winning] and I just wish it had lasted a little longer!" He concluded, "I'll have to come
back in 2012 and do it again."

An Evening on the J-Class Endeavour
Olympic life is not as glamorous as it's cracked up to be. Our sailors spend their days hanging out in a cramped shipping container, they eat in a cafeteria, they fly economy class (most of them), and at events like the
Opening Ceremonies they get herded like cattle for hours on end. So when they got an opportunity to go to for cocktails on the famous yacht Endeavour, it was a welcome brush with luxury.
The Endeavour is known as the most gorgeous J-Class yacht and was launched in 1934 as the UK America's Cup challenger. A longtime friend of US SAILING, Gary Jobson, has sailed many events on Endeavour and
called in a favor to the yacht's manager John Barrett. Jobson suggested he invite Team USA to the yacht for drinks and hors d'oeuvres and Barrett happily obliged.

Latest Blog Update by Team Leader Dean Brenner
Entering Week 2
Rather than leave you hanging with no post today, I'll revert to brief and total honesty. I overslept today. I just told my roommate Luther Carpenter that I am finding it harder and harder to get out of bed each day. I'm
still not sleeping very well, and it's getting harder to leap out of bed around 5am like I did the first couple of weeks we were here. But I feel like I owe you something each day as we get further into these Games. So here
are a few quick thoughts...
Today is big... how many times have you read that from me in the last week?!? I say it all the time, because it is true every day. Lots going on today...
